My name is Dorothy. I'm a girl that has had so much passion for fashion since I was 14. I believe I belong to fashion. Fashion is my life. I was born in Hong Kong. I moved to NY in 2016. Always have a mindset that I "Don't give a shit" what people think about me and what I dress. I am a very creative person and have a unique taste. I don't talk too much. However, I found fashion to express myself well. I hope one day someone will find me valuable and potential in fashion. What I need is an opportunity to show I am worth it. I hope I can achieve my goal to have my own clothing line.
This is my self-portrait. The whole design is meaningful. My sketch was inspired by Cut and paste art. I use that on my face. The reason I put soft measurement tape around my neck, as a fashion designer you will need all the time when drafting a garment. Also, you see “DOR$LA” all over my hair. “DOR$LA” is my future brand name. The name comes from my nickname “Dorla”. So, it sounds like a dollar at the same time. So I decided on a brand name called ”DOR$LA”. I hope I will be in the magazine one day with my brand name. There are two quotes that are my motivation to keep going with my dream. Just like the brand name all over my head. I will never give up till I die.
My dream is to become a fashion designer. As a designer, you always need measurement tape with you when you are drafting a pattern. This is kind of reflecting me when I was in 2 years of college. We always put the measurement tape on our neck and this is convenient for us to do the measurement.
“DOR$LA” is my clothing brand name. I hope one day I will have my own clothing line. That is the reason why I go to school to get a bachelor's degree, then get a fashion job. and have some experience and then open my own brand.
